For example, identifying as all canines.

An individual who feels their human and animal sides are blended together. They are always some mix of human and animal, but can experience shifts that move them up and down the humananimal scale.

I’m polytherian, I identify as a wolf and a tiger.

Shifting

Shift
A change in state; feeling more or less human.
Shifting is not limited to therians/otherkin. Many humans experience shifts for a variety of reasons. Not all therians/otherkin experience shifts.

Cameo shift
A shift which does not relate to a therio/kintype.

Phantom shift
The sensation of feeling supernumerary phantom limbs, when an individual feels limbs they do not physically possess. For example, feeling as though you have ears and a tail.
Phantom limbs can vary in intensity. Some people may just feel a vague sense of possessing the limb, others may feel them so strongly they feel just as real as any physical body part.

Mental shift
Taking on the mental state of their therio/kintype.

Dream shift
Taking the form of their therio/kintype.

Astral shift
Taking the form of their therio/kintype in the astral plane.
